Sleeping in the gable house
The oasis of peace in the center of the Emmental can be found a few hundred meters from the Emmenmatt Train Station, directly on the Emme.
The Giebelhaus am Emmenhof is looking forward to adventurous guests and is particularly suitable for one to two adults and one to two children or teenagers.
Giebelhaus
Discover the two original rooms. They have the standard of a youth hostel. One room is equipped with a double bed and a sofa, it serves as both a living room and a bedroom. The other room has a kitchenette and two sleeping places on the gable floor, which can be reached via a steep staircase, they are particularly suitable for older children and teenagers. In addition, the kitchenette is connected to the wet room via an equally steep internal staircase.
The shower and toilet can also be reached via a covered external staircase.
Ämmehof
The gabled house was built in 1949 as an annex to the adjacent residential building at the Emmenhof. The Ämmehof has been able to retain the charm and character of that time and today presents itself as an inviting place of peace and cosiness. The Ämmehof invites you to linger in the garden, by the fire bowl, in the partial shade on the Emme or in the evening sun. And the children are frolicking on the giant swing (about 5 m high).
The guests at the Ämmehof enjoy the Grander water and the low-radiation environment.
Walk
Enjoy the soothing splashing and rustling of the Emme, which is directly adjacent to the Ämmehof. And let your soul dangle during a walk along the Emme or during a trekking with our donkeys. The by no means stubborn, but equally not fast gray animals lead you into a meditative walk, which is especially transmitted to children.
Activities
If you want to have it faster and get ahead, you can rent a bike from us or an electric bike from Rent-a-Bike in Langnau. The heart route as well as the heart loops Langnau and Gotthelf run in the immediate vicinity and promise unique views as well as exciting encounters on geranium-hung farms and well-groomed hamlets. Culture and history are not neglected either: testimonies of history can be found in the Chüechlihuus in Langnau, in the Gotthelfzentrum in Lützelflüh as well as in the Franz Gertsch Museum or in the castle in Burgdorf. They are all easily accessible by bike.
In winter, you benefit from the proximity to the family ski areas of Sörenberg, Marbach or Bumbach, all of which can be reached in about 30 minutes by car. In Langnau, 4 km away, you will find an indoor swimming pool with sauna and steam bath, as well as an ice rink. After all, up to 17 km of cross-country ski trails are prepared there in good snow conditions.
