Sleeping in the gabled house
This oasis of peace in the centre of the Emmental is located just a few hundred metres from Emmenmatt railway station, directly on the Emme. The Giebelhaus at Emmenhof welcomes adventurous guests and is particularly suitable for two adults or a family.
Gabled house
Discover the two original rooms. They have the standard of a youth hostel. One room is furnished with a double bed and a sofa; it serves as both a living room and a bedroom. The other room has a kitchenette. A steep staircase leads to the gable floor with two sleeping areas, which are particularly suitable for older children and teenagers. The kitchenette is also connected to the wet room via an equally steep internal staircase. The shower and WC can also be reached via a covered external staircase.
Ämmehof
The gabled house was built in 1949 as an outbuilding to the neighbouring residential building at Emmenhof. The Ämmehof has managed to retain the charm and character of the past and today presents itself as an inviting place of peace and cosiness. The Ämmehof invites you to linger in the garden, by the fire bowl, in the semi-shade by the Emme or in the evening sun. And the children can have fun on the giant swing (approx. 5 metres high).
Guests at the Ämmehof enjoy the Grander water and the low-radiation environment.
Walks
Enjoy the soothing babbling and rushing of the Emme, which borders directly on the Ämmehof. And let your mind wander on a walk along the Emme or on a trek with our donkeys. The grey animals, which are by no means stubborn but just as slow, will lead you into a meditative walk that is particularly appealing to children.
Activities
If you want to go faster and get further, you can hire a bike from us or an electric bike from Rent-a-Bike in Langnau. The Herzroute and the Herzschlaufen Langnau and Gotthelf routes run in the immediate vicinity and promise unique views and exciting encounters on geranium-covered farms and spruced-up hamlets. Culture and history are not neglected either: evidence of history can be found in the Chüechlihuus in Langnau, the Gotthelf Centre in Lützelflüh, the Franz Gertsch Museum and the castle in Burgdorf. They are all easy to reach by bike.
In winter, you benefit from the proximity to the family ski resorts of Sörenberg, Marbach and Bumbach, which can all be reached in around 30 minutes by car. In Langnau, 4 kilometres away, you will find an indoor swimming pool with sauna and steam bath as well as an ice rink. Finally, up to 17 km of cross-country ski trails are groomed there in good snow conditions.

Payment terms and -periods
