The name of the village comes from the fact that it is built like a castle. Originally the people lived in the lower valley but in 1800 they were forced to move to higher grounds because of the violence of the Ottoman rulers. Much of this old part of Kastellos is now deserted and dilapidated.Yet Kastellos is a nice village to pay a visit to. Time has stood still here. There are small gardens with tomatoes and other vegetables, flowers, free-range chickens, goats and the occasional cat. It is very quiet. The single local you run in to is surprised to see you and gives you a friendly hello. The village has recently received an "upgrade" because a luxury complex (Kastellos Village) has opened its doors. The nearby village has several taverns serving Cretan cuisine. Guests can also visit the beach of Georgioupolis or the Lake Kourna, 5 km away from the resort. Kastellos Village is a 40-minute drive from Chania and 30 minutes driving from Rethymno. Souda Airport is less than 25 km away.

Payment terms and -periods

After the booking confirmation, you must make a deposit equal to 20% of the total rental amount within 10 days. The second payment must be paid no later than 42 days before you leave. If you leave within six weeks, you must pay down the full amount immediately.
